A few months ago I trapped a big tomcat who lived in the bushes behind my work. I named him Cetus.

He spent a week quarantined in my home, during which he sprayed everwhere, knocked pictures off the walls, and generally made it clear he did not appreciate the hospitality. After getting neutered, we went on a long drive to his new home in Seattle where a friend adopted him.

I’ve rescued several other office cats, but Cetus was a particularly strange experience. He never liked me or trusted me and I can’t blame him. I wanted to make his life better, but I don’t know if he sees it that way.

I wrote this song about him.
